Lake Size

Florida lake sizes are most commonly described by their surface acreage. There are some (Lake Kissimmee for example) that are sometimes described in square miles.

There is no hard and fast rule as to when a pond becomes large enough to be considered a lake, and vice versa.

The best solution is to include the surface acreage of the lake in the marketing material of the home. We're constantly expanding our List of Lakes pages and have acreages for many of them, but if you can't find it there and can't track it down anywhere else, tell your agent to check out the lake at www.maps.google.com to get a really cool aerial shot, and from that it is easy enough to come up w/ an estimate of the surface area.

If they need help, tell them to find the nearest middle schooler who's taking geometry, calculate the square footage, and use 43,560 SF/Acre to figure out the acreage.
